Improved
  • A faster, more reliable barcode scanner. The camera scanner now reads barcodes much more quickly and picks them up far more often, even in less than perfect light. As soon as you point the camera at a barcode it reads it on its own, so there is no need to line it up just right or take a photo. This works everywhere you scan, including the main app, the item screens, and the touch Terminal.
  • A cleaner, more consistent scan window. The camera view you see when scanning now looks the same in every part of the app and matches the touch Terminal, with a larger, tidier picture that is easier to aim.

Improved
  • Easier to change an item's type on a phone. When you edit an item, the option to switch it between Reusable and Consumable used to be a small text link that was hard to tap. It is now a clear button with plenty of room to press, so it works much better on a touch screen.

New
  • Count what a kit actually used when it comes back. Kits often go out with more supplies than they need, and some come back unused. Inventory Store can now ask how many of each supply were really used when you check a kit back in, and put whatever is left over straight back into stock, so nothing is written off by mistake. Turn it on under Settings → Modules → Kits & Bundles → Configure, where you can also choose whether to count what was used or what is left over.
  • Count now or count later. When you check a kit in you can tap Skip for now to put the kit away right away and count its supplies later. This works on the touch Terminal and inside the app.
  • A new Reconciliation report. Any kit you check in without counting is listed on a new Reconciliation report under Reports. Open it whenever you have a moment, count what came back, and the leftover supplies return to stock.

  • Simpler kit screens. The separate Use and Restock buttons on kits have been removed. A kit's supplies now come off stock when the kit is checked out, and the new check in counting puts any leftovers back, so there is one clear way to handle a kit's supplies instead of several.
  • A cleaner activity log for managed setups. For teams whose Inventory Store is run for them as a hosted service, the provider's system account no longer shows up in the activity log and reports, so you only see actions taken by your own team.

New
  • Add Inventory Store to your phone or tablet's home screen. On Android and Apple devices you can now save Inventory Store to your home screen and open it like any other app, full screen with its own icon, with nothing to install from an app store. Just open it in your browser and choose Add to Home Screen.
  • The Terminal can go on your home screen too. The touch checkout Terminal can be added to a home screen the same way, so a phone or tablet at the front desk opens straight into the scan and check in and out screen.
  • Pick the time zone for your location. A new Time Zone setting lets you choose the clock your dates and times are shown in, so everyone sees the same time no matter where the app is running or which device they use. Choose it when you first set up the app, or change it later under Settings → General. If you leave it unset, each person sees times in their own device's time zone.

  • A protected account for managed setups. For teams whose Inventory Store is run for them as a hosted service, the provider's account is now protected so it cannot be changed, paused, or removed by accident, and it shows up clearly as a system account.

New
  • Bundle items into kits. You can now group several items together into a kit, like a camera bag that holds a camera, two lenses, and a charger. Turn it on under Settings → Modules, then make a new item and choose Kit. Open the kit's Edit screen to add the items that belong in it.
  • Hand out or use a whole kit at once. Check an entire kit out to a person in one step, use up a kit's supplies together, or restock them all at once, instead of doing each item one by one. The app shows how many complete kits you can put together from what is in stock, and points out any pieces that are missing.
  • Choose whether a kit must be complete. You decide if a kit can only go out when every item is in stock, or whether your team can take whatever is available at the time. If some pieces are short, the app tells you which ones before you continue.
  • Keep track of when things need servicing. A new Maintenance option lets you record when an item was last serviced and how often it should be serviced, every so many days, months, or years. The app works out the next due date for you. Turn it on under Settings → Modules, then set a schedule on a reusable item under its Edit screen.
  • Send items out for maintenance. Mark an item as out for maintenance and, if you like, note which vendor has it. While it is away it is set aside so no one can check it out, just like when it is loaned to a person. Mark it returned when it comes back and the last serviced date updates on its own.
  • Get a heads up before service is due. Items that are due or overdue for maintenance show a clear warning when you open them, scan them, or look them up on the Terminal, so nothing slips through the cracks.
  • A vendors list and a maintenance report. Keep a searchable list of the vendors who service your items under Settings → Vendors, and open the new Maintenance Due report to see everything that is due, overdue, or currently out for service at a glance.

New
  • Now runs on Linux too. Besides Windows, you can now install Inventory Store on an Ubuntu or Debian computer. It runs quietly in the background and you open it in your web browser, exactly like on Windows. There is no tray icon on Linux. Just download the Linux file, run one setup command, and you are ready to go. See the User Guide for the steps.
  • Turn on a secure web address in one step. If you have your own domain name, Inventory Store can now get a free security certificate for you and switch your site to a secure https:// address automatically. It even renews the certificate on its own before it runs out, so you never have to think about it. Prefer to use a certificate you already have? You can still upload your own. Find it under Settings → Network.
  • Tags for your items. You can now add as many short labels as you like to an item, such as "fragile", "on loan", or "needs repair". Add or remove them right on the Add Item and Edit Item screens: start typing to pick from tags you already use, or type a new word and press Enter to make a fresh one on the spot. Each tag gets its own color automatically, so the same tag looks the same everywhere it shows up.
  • See tags at a glance. Tags appear as small colored pills on an item's details and on the Terminal screen. The Inventory search box now also finds items by their tags, so typing a tag name brings up every item that has it.
  • Manage tags in Settings. A new Settings → Tags screen lists every tag you have. From there you can add a tag, rename one, delete one (which removes it from every item), or open a tag to see which items use it and add or remove it from items in one place.
  • Tags in import and export. The inventory CSV now has a Tags column, so your tags come along when you export a backup and can be filled in when you bulk-load items from a spreadsheet.
Improved
  • Client names match no matter the capitalization. When you quickly add a person by name while checking something out, the app now matches an existing person even if the capitals are different. So "bob", "Bob", and "BOB" all link to the same person instead of creating duplicates.
Fixed
  • Camera button stays put in Terminal mode. On the Terminal screen, the button to scan with your camera no longer vanishes after you use it, so you can keep scanning one item after another.
  • Dashboard activity list pages correctly. Clicking through the pages of recent activity on the Dashboard now works as expected instead of getting stuck.

New
  • Terminal mode for tablets. A new full-screen page at /terminal with big, finger-friendly buttons, made for a shared tablet or front desk. Search or scan an item, then check it out, check it back in, or use up stock. It remembers your light or dark choice and clears between people with one tap.
  • New Staff role. Staff can use the Terminal to hand items out, take them back, and use up stock, but cannot add items, restock, or open the reports and settings. They go straight to the Terminal when they sign in, and back to it when they sign out, so a front-desk device is always ready for the next person.
  • Change an item's type. You can now switch an item between Reusable and Consumable after you create it. Open the item, click Edit, and use the Convert link under the type badge. For a reusable item, check in all units first.
  • A one-time hello. The first time an admin signs in, a friendly box asks whether you are using the app. We do not collect your data, and none of your inventory, people, or settings ever leave your computer. Clicking OK simply lets us know someone is out there using it. You are only ever asked once, and you can say no thanks.
Improved
  • Friendlier out-of-stock message. Trying to use or hand out more than you have now shows a clear, plain message instead of a technical error. On the Terminal an Out of stock note appears at the top of the item and the button is turned off, so you cannot give out something you do not have.

Fixed
  • Serveo tunnel access denied error is now fully resolved. The app was storing the SSH key in a folder that requires administrator rights to write to, causing an access denied error for standard user accounts. The key is now written to a temporary folder that the app always has permission to use, so the tunnel starts without any manual permission changes needed.

New
  • Page controls on every table. You can now choose how many rows to show at a time (5, 10, 50, or 100) on every table in the app, including the dashboard panels, Inventory, Users, Categories, Locations, Public View, and all Reports tabs.
  • Print shows everything. Clicking Print on a Reports page now automatically shows all rows before opening the print dialog, so nothing gets cut off. Your page view goes back to normal as soon as you are done.
Improved
  • Sensible page size defaults. Dashboard panels start at 5 rows per page for a quick overview. Reports start at 50 so you see more data with less clicking. Other tables start at 10.
  • Search and sort still work as expected. Filtering or sorting the Inventory list and Report tables works naturally alongside the new page controls. Searching jumps back to page 1 and only counts matching rows.
Fixed
  • "Restore from Backup" heading is easier to read in the light theme. The yellow text on that card was hard to see on a white background. It is now a darker color that is easy to read.

New
  • Modules. A new Settings → Modules screen for optional add-ons you can switch on or off. Each module stays completely out of the way until you turn it on, so you only see the features you actually use.
  • Cost & Valuation module. Record a unit cost for each item and see your total inventory value, a breakdown by category, and straight-line depreciation for reusable equipment. Totals show up under the module's Configure screen and on a new Reports → Valuation tab. You can set your own currency symbol.
  • Consumption Forecasting module. Predicts when each consumable will run out based on how fast you actually use it. The app keeps a usage history for every consume and restock, works out an average daily usage, and projects a run-out date. See it on the module's Configure screen and a new Reports → Forecast tab.
  • Webhooks & Integrations module. Send a message to any web address (URL) when something happens in your inventory, such as a checkout, a low-stock alert, or a new item. You pick which events to send, and you can add a shared secret so the receiver can confirm the message really came from your app. Handy for connecting to Slack, Zapier, Make, or your own scripts.
  • Hazard pictograms. With the Safety Data Sheets module on, the standard hazard symbols now appear next to an item's name in the inventory list and on the scan screen, plus a new Safety section on the item view and scan card that shows the signal word and symbols at a glance.
  • Look up safety data while adding an item. The Add Item screen now has the same SDS lookup as the edit screen, so you can attach hazard data right away instead of saving the item and coming back to edit it.
Fixed
  • The activity log now always shows a person's login name, instead of sometimes showing their first and last name.
  • Yellow buttons (such as the Safety Data Sheets lookup buttons) are now easy to read in the light theme.

New
  • Safety Data Sheet (SDS) module. A new optional add-on for teams that handle chemicals. An Admin turns it on under Settings → Modules. While it is off, none of the SDS buttons show up anywhere, so it stays out of the way for everyone who does not need it.
  • Free chemical safety lookups. Safety data comes from PubChem, a free public database run by the US National Institutes of Health. No account, API key, or payment is required. Each lookup pulls the hazard signal word (Danger or Warning), hazard pictograms, hazard and precaution statements, the CAS number, and a link to the full PubChem page.
  • Did-you-mean suggestions. PubChem lists chemicals, not brand names. If you search a product or common name with no exact match (for example "bleach"), the app offers a short list of close chemical names you can click to try instead.
  • See safety info at a glance. Once an item has safety data attached, a View SDS Info button appears on its detail screen for everyone, including Viewers. You attach or update the data from the item's edit panel.
  • Metadata table. Go to Settings → Modules → Safety Data Sheets → Configure to see every piece of safety data on file and remove any entry in one click.

New
  • Richer product lookup. Scanning or looking up a barcode now fills in the product image, brand, category, size, and weight - not just the name - from Open Library, UPC Item DB, and Open Food Facts.
  • Product metadata library. A new Metadata button on the Inventory page opens a table of every product record cached from lookups. Refresh a row to re-fetch it from its source, or delete a row to unlink it from any items and remove it from storage (with a confirm step).
  • Link products while editing. The SKU field on the Edit form now has a lookup button - choose a match to attach the product's image and details to an existing item when you save.
Improved
  • Redesigned item view. The detail screen now uses a two-column layout with the product image beside the stats, a restyled Product Details panel, and the item's expiry and category shown inline.
  • Type-aware screens. Consumables show a single In Stock figure; Reusables show Total, Available, Checked Out, and Lost. Expiry only appears for Consumables, and the item type is chosen with clearer selectable cards.
  • Simpler stock adjustments. Consume and Restock are now one Adjust Stock control with − and + buttons. The In Stock number flashes red or green to confirm the change instead of pushing the screen down with a banner.
  • Clearer status. Low Stock and Out of Stock badges now appear right in the item title.
  • Faster scanning. Scanning a consumable mirrors the item view (compact two-column layout, the −/+ stepper, and stock badges), and the search box now clears every time the scanner opens.
Fixed
  • Product images no longer show a broken-image icon next to the real image.
  • Food product lookups now capture the package size (the quantity field was previously skipped).
